Insights from the black sea (V.1)

Updated: Oct 2, 2020

Today I decided to LIVE with purpose.

SWRV SOCIAL was a name/concept that I originally developed with the mindset of starting a digital marketing consultation biz. This could very well evolve into that somewhere during my journey, but not today. A deliberate CHOICE was made to create a space and help build a community of diverse thinkers to express themselves outside the constraints of your average day-to-day. 2020 has been a real asshole, and we've all been a victim of circumstance.

I LOVE music, sport, various types of art, dance, food, exercise, and my solace the ocean. It calms my chaotic mind, and allows me to be in a space where silence is truly golden. My hope is to nurture a community with some of these shared interest as well as introductions of additional ones.

I want people to have the freedom to write their own blog, share photography that inspires them, create a poem, choregraph an eight count, share a recipe of your favorite dish, whatever is needed to truly express yourself.

Most recently my kids and I are learning to surf, which has turned into a lifestyle obsession. Myself more than them develop what scientist Wallace Nichols calls Blue Mind. " Blue Mind, a mildly meditative state characterized by calm, peacefulness, unity, and a sense of general happiness and satisfaction with life in the moment. It is inspired by water and elements associated with water, from the color blue to the words we use to describe the sensations associated with immersion." (Nichols, 2014)

Furthermore, another truism he used for my sentiments when in the water was shared in the same article about a book written by John Jerome titled Blue Rooms. He says the thing about the ritual morning plunge, the entry into water that provides the small existential moment, is its total privacy. Swimming is between me and the water, nothing else. The moment the water encloses me, I am, gratefully, alone.”

I share this, because it was in the water that helped open my mind, reflect, and make a decision to move more purposeful through life. You will begin to notice that a lot of my blogs will have an affinity to the water in someway. I hope you find the inspiration needed to share on this site as well.

There is plenty more to share in future blogs, but my goal was to get at least one out tonight, regardless how raw and unedited.

Stay moving with forward momentum, even if there are failures along the way. It truly is the only way to grow...….
