Insights from the black sea (V.7)

"If you don't understand yourself, you don't understand anybody else." -Nikki Giovanni

This resonated with me today. I'm getting a late start tonight because some times it's good to use the day to provide insight for reflection. I was looking through quotes this evening to identify what stood out, and landed on the one above.

What does it mean to truly understand yourself. Everyone is so complex in many ways. From our preference of food, to our fluctuation of mood. How often can you sense a bad mood coming on, and try to course correct before it's too late? How often do you wake up in a bad mood and not really understand why? These are things I'm sure psychologist have an anecdote for, but I like the thought of self exploration.

How we gather self feedback is important. It's mostly done in a business setting, but definitely can be leveraged in our personal lives. Allowing the time to celebrate on small wins to large goals is one too often missed. We are so focused on the big picture, it's easy to forget the 100 frames you mastered along the way to completion. It's ok to be confident, but also be critical. This is where the growth takes place. I'm no medical professional, so understand these insights are in alignment for my personal development. Maybe it will help you find your truth or at least start the exploration.

As we begin to understand ourselves better, we can help those that choose to endure our personalities navigate better. This is what I call bringing your authentic self. We have a spectrum of introverts, extroverts, and everything in between. Sometimes the balance we are able to provide those we choose to keep in our circles is what makes relationships (platonic/all the above) worthwhile.

"Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are." - Brene Brown

Be purposeful in your daily practice.
